Hello Fellow Cadet and Welcome Guest

Randy just called me and let me know that we have not sent out the March 2010 newsletter yet.  We have been so wrapped up in planning for this reunion that the time has escaped us.  I want to thank everyone for registering for the reunion, we have over 47 cadets and over 33 Spouses, Faculty, and Guests signed up to come to what will be our 8th Annual Reunion, Celebrating the 48th Anniversary Year of the founding of Carolina Military Academy in 1962.

I am so excited about this reunion, we have heard from so many or our cadets, it has really been nice to talk to some of our cadets that we have not heard from in so long.  It will really be a treat to see all of them at Myrtle Beach.  We have a great program and some special events lined up for the reunion.  We hope that everyone will have a safe trip to the reunion.

I guess that this will be my last newsletter as your president, Mike Davis will take over as president at the end of the reunion.  We will also elect a new Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer at this years event.

I have really enjoyed being involved with the CMA Alumni Association over the last couple of years.  It has really been a pleasure to be associated with such a great group of gentlemen, Cora Lee and I have had such a great time visiting with everyone at the reunions and talking to everyone on the phone and through emails.  Since the CMA Website has been up and running we have gotten back in touch with so many of our old friends and classmates.  I intend to stay involved with the Association and attend the future reunions and look forward to seeing all of you again.

I would like to thank my Vice-President Mike Davis, our great Treasurer Leo Fuller and our Secretary/Webmaster Randy Jennings for all of their help over the last two years, without their help I could never have pulled this off.  They have all worked so hard for the Association and the members.  Please give Mike and the new board your full cooperation over the next year, I am sure they will give you their all.

So long for now, I will see you at the beach.

Chuck

As Chuck said we have around 80 Cadets, Faculty, Spouses, and Guest signed up for the reunion. It looks to be a great event and we look forward to seeing all of our old classmates and friends at the beach.

I spoke with the hotel yesterday and they have agreed to hold the room block open until 1 April 2010, so if you have not made your reservations yet don't miss this opportunity.  We still have until about April 7, 2010 to get the count in for the Friday Night Dinner/Show and the Saturday Night Memorial Service, and Saturday Night Dinner so if you have not registered yet, do it before April 7, 2010.  We also are planning an optional pay as you go Lunch at the Famous Sea Captains House Restaurant for Saturday.  We are also in the early planning stages for our early bird arrivals.  If you plan to arrive on Thursday, we are planning a Dinner outing that night also.  Get in touch with me if you plan to be in town on Thursday.

I am really looking forward to seeing all of you at the beach, I have talked to so many classmates that I have never met but I feel like I know you already.  I hope to make many new friends at the reunion,  We will be taking lots of photos and videos to put on the website, make sure that you bring your cameras and all of your CMA memorabilia, photos, scrapbooks so that we can all talk about old times and make new friends.

We will be finalizing our agenda for the reunion in the next couple of weeks, on arrival you will all receive photo name badges and a printout with all of the reunion agenda's, events, schedules and driving directions.  We will also have a large hospitality room on the 11th floor (room 1126) that will be open at scheduled times during the reunion.  We plan to have light refreshments and mixers available in the hospitality room.  This will be a (BYOB) hospitality room, the association will not provide any alcoholic beverages but you are welcome to bring your own.

All in all everything is coming right along.  We hope that you have a safe drive to the reunion,  we will be greeting attendees in the lobby on Thursday and Friday between 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM to hand out reunion packages.  If you plan to arrive outside of these times please give me a call on my cell phone 843-450-5800 and I will let you know how to get your package.  We are also looking for persons who will attend the reunion and would like to volunteer for a few hours of duty as host of the Hospitality Room.  Contact me if you would like to help with these duties during portions of the reunion.

Thanks to all for registering. See You At The Reunion

REUNION TIME IS ALMOST HERE
REUNION UPDATE
JUST IN -------
Just got off of the phone with Scott Blankinship..... Scott and Carol Blankinship were in touch with Jesse Mercer and were trying to set it up for Jesse to come to the reunion when they found that Jesse has been in the hospital with congestive heart failure, he is resting at his home now and is feeling better.  He has lost over 20 lbs and is going to have to change his diet but hopefully he will be ok.  The doctors drained over 6 liters of fluid from around his heart.  The doctors have told him that he does not want him to travel until he has his meds stabilized.  I am not sure if we will see Jesse at the reunion, only time will tell if he will be able to travel by then.  Scott says that if he (Jesse) can come they will stop by Elizabethtown and pick him on their way down, but if not they will stop by on their way back to Alrlington to see him and report back to us.

I know that Jesse would love to hear from all of you.  I think that email will be more appropriate for now and then I will check with Jesse and see if he wants me to publish his phone number.  Please let Jesse know that he is in our hearts and in our prayers.

Thanks Scott for the update.  I am going to start a new topic under the Cadets Profile that way everyone can subscribe to the topic. When you get more information you can go to the Cadets Profile and post and update.

Anyone that wants to send a message to Jesse can go to the Cadets Profile and select Jesse Mercer - Medical Update and subscribe to the thread they will be able to leave a reply and anytime there is an update you will get an email. Please let him know that you are thinking of him.
